Kopi Luwak Coffee has a history deeply rooted in Indonesian culture. It dates back to the Dutch colonial era when coffee plantations were established across Indonesia, including Bali. During this time, local farmers were prohibited from consuming the coffee they cultivated. However, they discovered that civet cats, or “luwaks,” would eat the coffee cherries, digest the fruit, and leave behind the beans. The farmers collected these beans, cleaned them, and roasted them, unknowingly creating one of the most prized coffee experiences in the world.
