Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The process of upgrading an item, often known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases a stat linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain a level gauge for each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling items increases with their rarity and item level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to boost the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods through the use of upgrade components or increasing an item's rarity or mark level. In addition, many items can be reforged to boost their stats even more.

This is the maximum value that a glyph could improve a stat by but not the amount it will actually increase it by. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier and quality of the item you are admiring.
The majority of upgrade components that are added to items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you do have a non-useful rune or glyph that hasn't yet been applied to your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. If you want to remove a glyph from a piece of you must save it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item will be destroyed that it was installed in however, you can salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its shards, so this should not be considered as a loss.

Reroll tokens give the player a brand new random affix, which is usually superior to the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be a good way to reroll weapon stats, which can be upgraded to provide better damage or additional perks.
Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the upgrade menu, but they still qualify to receive upgrades. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button that alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be selected to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item.
